Each year Prestressed Systems Inc.
helps students from local universities and colleges
participate in The Big Beam Contest, sponsored by the
Precast Concrete Institute, by supplying facilities,
materials, equipment, and personnel.
The contest challenges students from
engineering schools across North America to design
materials and structure for a 16-foot span precast
concrete inverted tee beam. The projects must adhere to
strict rules on the structural design and what materials
can be used in the concrete mix. Cash prizes are
awarded for the most efficient deign, highest load
capacity, best report, and other categories. |
